EU AI Act and AI Literacy: As uQualio Sees It

EU AI Act and AI Literacy: As uQualio Sees It

Just a short post to help our readers and fellow uQualions understand the EU AI Act and AI literacy. Both how they may relate to their video learning system and other business tasks.

What is the EU AI Act? (Short Version Please!)

The EU AI Act started as a legislative proposal designed to regulate artificial intelligence (AI) within the European Union (EU). By establishing a legal framework, it aims to balance tech innovation with the protection of basic rights and public safety.

It started on August 1, 2024, and is aiming for progressive milestones throughout the next few years. One of the milestones is AI literacy.

What is AI Literacy? It Sounds Kind of Ironic, Like a Machine Reading Something Machine-Generated

Well, we could cut out the human middleman and just generate content, then have a robot interact with that. Watching movies or TV for entertainment would just disappear, and the machines would rise up and take over. At least that’s the fear (and that could be interesting to watch on the big screen).

But seriously, AI literacy is a goal to ensure personnel meet the EU AI Act training requirements. Practicing what we preach, those who work for uQualio take courses on our own Video4Learning platform to gain AI literacy. This includes a course reviewing our AI Manifesto, where we outline the steps we are taking as proponents of ethical AI tools

Learning More About How to Attain AI Literacy

We’ve been working on compliance with the EU AI Act from the start. One of our posts from earlier this year can help you design an AI literacy Program with AI literacy course for your team. Help them attain the knowledge and skills to critically understand, evaluate, and use AI tools to safely work in an increasingly digital world.

How Does uQualio View Ethical AI?

We’re glad you asked. We see AI as a component of many useful tools that allow our platform to add to our customers’ skillsets. When used ethically and mindfully, AI can help with repetitive and functional tasks, saving a lot of time. Its use can level the playing field for small businesses.

uQualio has believed in including ethical AI advancements in the tools of our platform to assist our users. It helps make education accessible to everyone, which includes keeping costs low. Simple tools like AI-powered transcription and quiz-generation can really help LMS platform users get up and running.

Many of these AI tools, when developed and utilized ethically, save time and money. They also more quickly level the playing field for smaller businesses and non-profits. They can then focus on providing learning to their employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
