Universiti Teknologi MARA MoU with uQualio Signed and Feted

Universiti Teknologi MARA MOU with uQualio

Every week is a busy and exciting time for this Video4Learning LMS, but this past week was a special “learning experience” for us. Read on about the Universiti Teknologi MARA MoU with uQualio…

What is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)?

Not necessarily a legally binding document, an MoU nevertheless serves as a formal document outlining an agreement between two or more parties. In this case, the parties are uQualio, and our good friends at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), which is the largest public university in Malaysia. They serve over 170,000 students and are committed to fostering global partnerships that promote excellence in education and technology.

An MoU typically reflects the parties’ commitment to work together, generally describing broader concepts and our mutual goals. In our case, it’s a framework for friendship and cooperation in our common vision of making high-quality education and training more accessible. Representatives from UiTM honored us with a visit to uQualio headquarters in Copenhagen on October 21, 2025 to sign this MoU.

What Have UiTM and uQualio Agreed to Do Together?

This is the exciting bit – we will be working closely with UiTM to strengthen global cooperation in digital learning and research. Our intention is to promote mutual collaboration, academic exchange, and joint development of innovative initiatives.

The two-year agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at fostering cross-border cooperation in education, research, and technology. Because of our LMS platform, we focus especially on e-learning, video-based training, and digital transformation of higher education.

Some Specifics About What We May Do Together…

We are looking at several opportunities, including:

  • Student Engagement and Industrial Training – with possible student training and academic collaboration with uQualio in the EdTech industry.
  • Joint Research and Academic Events – including symposia, workshops, conferences, and short courses on education technology, digital learning, and research innovation.
  • Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Building – featuring information exchange and insights related to teaching development, EdTech, and digital learning solutions.
  • Mutual Promotion and Visibility – including through our respective official websites and communication platforms (subject to prior written approval for use of names, logos, or trademarks).
  • Future Collaboration Opportunities – this could expand into AI-driven translation in learning, global video-based education models, and SDG4-related education initiatives.

What Does Hatla Say About This Partnership?

Our fearless Co-founder Hatla Færch Johnsen could not have been more excited about this MoU. It scratches all of her itches regarding the importance of UN Sustainability Development Goal (SDG) #4 – Quality Education. As she says, “Quality education is what is needed to reduce poverty, increase income, ensure good health, reduce injustice and inequality, drive sustainable growth, so we can enhance the world. This partnership ensures that education becomes a global enabler. Together with UiTM, we aim to create accessible, video-based learning experiences that empower students and professionals to learn anywhere, anytime.”

We’ve Been Collaborators with UiTM Before….

From 2022 to earlier this year, uQualio worked with UiTM and several other universities worldwide on the EU-sponsored Erasmus+ project, EdViCon. Standing for Educational Video Conferencing, the project involved seven partner universities that researched hybrid classroom technologies and pedagogies.

In great part a response to how COVID challenged the very act of education, the project included the design and implementation of portable video conferencing toolkits and training modules for and with professors, classrooms, and students worldwide. Learn more about how EdViCon got its start and how the uQualio video learning platform helped EdViCon solve these educational challenges.
