Consumers are used to easy sign-up for services. A couple of minutes online, and a free or low-cost trial service begins. Sounds great, until time passes and you realize the trial period is over. And you may have agreed to start or keep paying. And then it does NOT take a couple of minutes online to get out of the contract. In fact, you may have already been charged and find yourself stuck in a commitment with a service you don’t even like or use. The now nullified Click-to-Cancel rule was intended to protect the US consumer from this frustrating but common situation.

2. Find out how to cancel or end the trial so that you are not automatically charged if you forget to take action. Also, check how easy it is to cancel if you start subscribing to the service. 

3. Read the fine print before you click to start – or better yet, if there is a lot of fine print, you may wish to keep looking for a better service.
