We have some exciting news to share! Our CEO and co-founder, Hatla Færch Johnsen, is featured in a new book by CBREE – whom we have been helping with a learning platform to train illerate Americans.

The book is called “Nice To Meet You: An Oral History Collection for Developing Cultural Competence.” It’s part of a collaboration that really shows what we’re all about—making quality learning accessible to everyone.

A 3-Year Journey Worth Celebrating

This incredible adult education book just hit the shelves after an amazing 3-year journey. Moreover, what a journey it’s been! As an education book this isn’t your typical academic read. Instead, it’s packed with real stories from real people who are making a difference in their communities. Think advocates, educators, and everyday change-makers who decided to roll up their sleeves and build something better.

Dr. Kerrin Ingram edited the collection, while Dr. Ramo Lordeni (who runs CBREE) provided amazing contributions to this adult education resource. Together, they’ve brought us oral histories from forty-four incredibly diverse people. Each person shares their story of overcoming challenges and improving their quality of life through lifelong learning.

You’ll find stories about everything: from fighting climate change to breaking down barriers. Similarly, there are tales of helping people in prison learn new skills and building bridges between different cultures. Ultimately, every single story shows just how powerful education can be.

Hatla’s Take: Why Education Changes Everything

In Hatla’s chapter, she dives into something we really believe in. Specifically, she talks about the Nordic approach to demokratizing education and shares this gem:

“Traditionally, knowledge has been a limited power that you could keep to yourself. But by sharing you increase everything for everybody.”

That’s exactly why we do what we do at uQualio! Hatla explains how Denmark invests in education to build stronger communities. Furthermore, it’s the same thinking behind our platform: When we make learning easier and more affordable, everyone wins.

Why We’re So Excited About This

This book really captures what uQualio is all about. Sure, we sell our platform to businesses (and they love it!). But here’s the thing, we give uQualio away for almost free to NGOs and non-profits.

Why? Because we genuinely believe education should be a right, not something only some people can afford.

Hatla puts it perfectly in her chapter:

“We created uQualio to make it easy and affordable for anyone to create great video learning. We make it fun to learn and easy to remember! We sell to companies, but we give it almost free to NGOs because we want to help educate the world and make it better. It’s the perfect combination—we can actually help change the world.”

CBREE: Our Amazing Partners

Want to see this in action? Just look at our partnership with CBREE! Dr. Ramo Lordeni and his team use uQualio to reach people who really need it. They’re teaching media literacy, helping people understand housing rights, and so much more.

Dr. Lordeni says it best:

“uQualio is a fantastic way to get your ideas out there. It’s an excellent educational platform—simple to use, efficient, and perfect for creating training courses.”

Why We’re Excited About This Adult Education Initiative

The book is all about understanding different cultures through real stories. It perfectly matches what we believe at uQualio. The stories help you see how people from different backgrounds complement each other. Plus, they make you think about your own assumptions and biases.

Here’s something cool. All the money from book sales goes to helping underserved, marginalized, and incarcerated people. So when you buy a copy, you’re not just getting great insights. You’re actually helping people who need it most.

Oh, and if you want to hear more from Hatla, check out her interview on the CBREE podcast. She talks about education, fairness, and how accessible learning can change everything.

The Big Picture

Here’s a sobering fact: 51 million adults struggle with basic literacy. Unfortunately, only 1.5 million are in literacy programs. Clearly, that gap is huge, and it shows why we need fresh, accessible ways to help people learn.

Education isn’t just about job training or checking compliance boxes. It’s about giving people power, building stronger communities, and making the world a little more fair.

We’re incredibly proud to support organizations like CBREE. They use our platform to make real changes in real people’s lives. And that’s exactly what gets us excited about what we do.
